The suspect, a Lewisboro resident whose name has not yet been released, was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 11 in connection with a fatal overdose that happened in Yorktown in late October 2023, Yorktown Police announced on Saturday, Jan. 13.
On the day of the overdose, Monday, October 23 at around 9:30 p.m., officers and paramedics responded to a home on Baldwin Road and attempted to save the victim's life. However, they were later pronounced dead.
The investigation into the death eventually determined that the victim had been sold a quantity of fentanyl that resulted in their death.
The suspect who allegedly sold the fentanyl to the victim was found outside their home on Thursday and taken to police headquarters, where they were charged with:
- Third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance;
- Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
The suspect was later arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court, and their bail was set at $100,000 cash, $200,000 bond, or $300,000 partially secured bond. After being unable to post bail, the suspect was then remanded to Westchester County Jail.
They will next appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday, Jan. 25.
